After being duped by mama cougar C8 on Monday when she moved to a new den just hours before we arrived, we successfully tagged her litter of 3 female kittens yesterday. Meet Pumpkin, Spice, and Latté! They are the 3rd documented litter of C8 on #SBCcougars #WiRElab

Anyone have advice for job search post-PhD? I've been working in a TA for BC gov since January as a Carnivore Bio while wrapping up my PhD this summer. Hiring freezes are limiting my chances to stay on, what are options while trying to land a permanent, relevant role?

WILDLIFE NEWS: In the greater LA area, mountain lions and recreationists use the same areas. Researchers found that while mountain lions can’t really move out of the area, they are adjusting their active periods to avoid people. Read more here: i.mtrbio.com/yybvmhlpvf

Yesterday's BC Election remains to close to call for several ridings and the overall balance of power, but I decided to do a quick land-vs-people vote animation anyway. (Cross-posting with one day delay from the other site where the air is cleaner and skies are bluer.)

It's rare to see wolverines, so it's no surprise that population info in Alberta is sparse. But if you're lucky enough to spot them or their sign, you can help! Submit your observation to WolverineWatch.org, a group filling in some of those data gaps. #TrailcamTuesday

***New paper alert*** White-tailed #deer are expanding through the #boreal forest with substantial negative consequences. Why? A recent paper stressed this is primarily #climate driven, but our re-analysis suggests it's 50/50 habitat/climate. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

My face when my family asks me for the 1 millionth time why my PhD on cougars in BC is taking *so long*. After years of hard work as a team, the challenge is to convey such a huge effort in my dissertation. Hopefully this is my last first day of school! #grade24 #PhDlife
