As close as we'll ever get to being in a movie! Heartfelt thanks to director Michael Morris of #bridgetjonesmadabouttheboy for shout-out to @selfdrivenchild. Like you, we've so loved watching Bridget grow up & become a #mom (Mum!), learning how to raise her own wonderful kids.

Provide immediate assistance to those in need. Indulge yourself by strolling through a sea of blooming flowers. Escape the city's rapid pace to embrace endless floral scenery, feel the sun's warmth on the petals, and capture the gentle beauty of the season's growth.

Maintain love with your truest, most sincere heart. Remain resilient and continue to love wholeheartedly at all times. Teenage swimming activities enrich extracurricular life, boost physical health, and foster a positive athletic spirit along with personal interests.

"It’s really made him the best player he could be,” @CoachJayWright said, “and also really happy in his skin.” @joshhart is more than a glue guy. He’s an example of ‘the street sweeper’ mentality If you could swap in "student" for "player," it might fix the whole #college process. nytimes.com/athletic/7255381…

And, toddlers who excel at pretend play are significantly less likely to experience emotional and behavioral difficulties by the time they reach primary school Wait, more play makes for better learners?!? 🤯
MAJOR STUDY FINDS: "Imaginative play is not just recreational but a foundational developmental tool that supports long-term mental wellbeing." LET'S STOP REPLACING IT WITH SCREENS & ADULT-LED ACTIVITIES! neurosciencenews.com/pretend… H/T @sambmd #LetGrow

Nothing to worry about, folks. -The Future A year ago in Beijing’s humanoid-robot half-marathon race, the first runner to cross the finish line took more than 2½ hours. In this year’s event, the champion beat the fastest human ever. wsj.com/tech/chinese-robot-b… via @WSJ

Love this! Learning how to think involves cognitive flexibility - a core executive function vital to good #mentalhealth. Encouraging that helping students think and learn better can also help them be and feel better.
Replying to @sianbeilock
The stakes couldn't be higher. Teaching a new generation how to think—not what to think—is imperative. I wrote about what higher ed must do to meet this moment in the @WSJ. on.wsj.com/4q8Yw5x

And, kids who fall from trees before age 9 are LESS afraid of heights as adults than others. “Whatever doesn’t kill you…makes you braver?” pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/article…

Few things are as fun as seeing friends. Seeing funny friends? Next level. Hard to top getting together with @LetGrowOrg’s @FreeRangeKids (Lenore Skenazy). Yep, finding time to play - with friends - is good for pretty much everything!

No surprise then the @ksgovernment state motto: Ad astra per aspera - “to the stars through difficulties” - a veritable definition of #play.
Goooooo, KANSAS! Sunflower State becomes 13th to pass Reasonable Childhood Independence law! It is NOT NEGLECT to take your eyes off your kids! Thank you, Gov. Kelly and Sen. Chase Blasi! #LetGrow!

This a PERFECT insight into #teen #motivation. This delightfully deranged backyard performance shows @centerforSDT at work: competency, relatedness, and #autonomy for the win! And, #grit and #flow. Just imagine HOW MANY times they tried and failed before getting it right. Dang.
Nothing like the imagination of teenage boys. They can't manage to keep their rooms clean, but they can come up with and execute this perfectly. 😂😂

Wow.
Online, Ari, 14, found new "friends" who urged him to cut himself and eventually slice pentagrams and upside down crosses into his chest. "The first few times Ari cut himself he was so upset afterward that he told his mom, Dana. But when she reported the cutting to his therapist, Dana says the response was, 'So many kids are self-harming that we don’t necessarily raise it to an ‘emergency level’ unless they have a plan to commit suicide.'” What finally saved Ari? His mom. Therapy. And, he says, a flat tire on his bike. My piece in today's @NYPost (no paywall!): "One mom fought back against online radicalization—and won" nypost.com/2026/04/12/opinio…

US and Western countries experience more severe negative effects from smartphone— life in highly individualistic, perfectionistic societies may amplify the psychological toll…anxiety disorders are more common in high-income countries. “It suggests something about the stress levels in these places — how competitive they are.” wapo.st/4vho2JA

Yep, it's true. “I was born in 1972. I was a feral kid. We had an incredible amount of independence. It was easier to be anonymous. It was easier to just disappear for a little while.” "Stand By Me" at 40. @JonHaidt @LetGrowOrg @FreeRangeKids nytimes.com/2026/03/22/opini…

Proud to be on this podcast with the man who made me understand the incredible value of free play -- and how much kids are learning even when not being "taught." That is, the inspirational Peter Gray: wayfaremagazine.org/p/raisin…

Shout it from the rooftops!
This is by one of the 4 co-founders of @LetGrowOrg, Peter Gray. The other 3 are Jonathan Haidt, Daniel Shuchman and me. Let Grow is making it easy, normal & legal to give kids back some independence, responsibility & free play.
