I don't get a locker. No travel or accommodation expenses (my contract says I have to live close so that I can attend hospital promptly). No funding for assistance. Expensive parking. Buy my own coffee. Shared canteen with patients and relatives so have to queue for ages. 🤔

For every extra operating list ,clinic or shift done by a doctor or nurse or AHP ,is something else that’s building up and not being done well. Either family time, supporting professional activities , pt admin. Asking people to work harder and longer is not sustainable #burnout

Please, for the sake of NHS, do not treat your international workforce so badly. Imagine starting a new job in a foreign country & on the first day of the job you are told that the job you applied for isn't there anymore & you need to do another job or leave. Supporting IMG doctors is an exhausting job because sometimes we are dealing with completely unreasonable employers.

In F2 I needed a QIP, and instead of the usual VTE crap I decided to do something useful. The state of our doctors’ offices had always pissed me off and so I went about improving things, new chairs, more computers, more phones etc. Small things but made a big difference! 😎😎😎

Lets see how this applies to the foundation programme (generically, thinking about many of my friends across the UK doing F1-2 ATM) .... 1) ❌lighting and temperature: no, strobe lights and non-modifiable heating are standard 2) ❌parking: expensive, privatised, not safe
Hear lots about what organisations and leaders CAN’T influence for basic needs e.g pay rates, however, there is so much they CAN influence & should start to do so Even things that can’t be influenced, having honest conversations, empathy and supporting staff goes a long way
