Balancing food, farming & nature from a small farm in Devon. Continuing to assist farmers & conservationists with farm & environmental business planning.
A great day with @NaturalEngland colleagues learning about Maximum Sustainable Output (MSO) on a lovely historic farm in Northumberland.

Amazing first day at @ORFC - #farming in all its diversity, strength and resilience - deep and serious discussions about complex issues - rather different to the tractor-jam politics of others.
We witnessed so many wonderful discussions, connections, and conversations taking place yesterday both in-person and online.
It's not too late to join the knowledge-sharing and community-building taking place online today: orfc.org.uk/book-orfc-2025-t…

Delighted to be welcoming @Nethergill as part of @monitorfarms here in 2wks to discuss 'balancing the sweetspot between output & profit'. It's a very different way to evaluate the business and a goal for the future.
Everyone welcome!

Lots of head scratching going on !
I’m an advocate and practitioner of ‘less is more’ developed by @Nethergill but that is no excuse for paying upland farmers less than lowland livestock farmers for nature, carbon, access. Lowland livestock farmers make equally poor financial decisions failing to optimise inputs
