So excited about this project! The project is part of an @NSF-funded cooperative agreement with @Internet2 called "Exploring Clouds for Acceleration of Science," and will create a library of BCOs on @awscloud, which can be accessed/contributed to through Galaxy. #biocompute

Really nice video articulating a feeling I think a lot of folks have. I have watched the anti-racism sentiment lead to at least one policy that, ironically, ended up hurting poc more. Maybe a more thoughtful and - above all, humane - approach is needed.
"Ideology twisting scholarship with dangerous consequences is a phenomenon hardly limited to the Soviet Union. It's happening here, right now, in America, in an effort to spread an intolerant orthodoxy masquerading as 'Anti-racism.'" - FAIR Advisor @JohnHMcWhorter.

Ridiculous!
Age at first R01 grant... just when you think it can't keep getting more ridiculous it does. Median age is now up to 42... long live the long lived gerontocracy. We desperately need to do more to accelerate the careers of younger scientists in the US tinyurl.com/2utfbj2m

This is so good. It's exactly the kind of thing we need more of to help comprehend the flow of organics through a biological network, the associated energetics, and how perturbations can affect it, rather than static images.

1) Internship at @genentech. Shaped the way I think about money in running my own lab 2) Started over in a new grad lab/field after >4.5yrs. Scary but haven’t been scared of taking a risk since
PhDs: What singular experiences did you have during grad school that made a meaningful difference to your later career?

I'm happy about the order, but also surprised. Phone apps regularly take and transmit screenshots, location records, and so much more. Even text that's written in a messaging app and then deleted and not sent. Why draw the line here?
