SCARY MOVIE (2026) was a massive hit at the box office this weekend, while largely spoofing SCREAM (2022) as the main plot. The film makes a bold statement about embracing the original characters/actors over requel replacements that mirrors the discourse around SCREAM 7.
New! Ep. 334 - “Scary Movie" (2026) & How Its Message Relates to SCREAM
In this episode, we review the new film and discuss how it complements the new era of SCREAM films.

Kevin Williamson’s involvement as the co-writer of SCREAM 7 led to many improvements from recent films in the series. In particular the writing of the main characters is stellar across the board: Sidney, Gale, Mindy, Chad, and Tatum 🩶

Scream the TV Series season two celebrates its 10th anniversary this weekend, having premiered May 30, 2016. In this episode, we review season two and I enthusiastically endorse fans to re-evaluate the first two seasons of the show now that we’re post-Radio Silence. Despite the differences and production limitations, the show actually embodies the mythology and spirit of the Craven formula more than it gets credit for.

Wes Craven’s New Nightmare was Mr. Craven’s first attempt at scratching the itch of his interest in exploring Hollywood and Meta through slasher, before his masterpiece of the Scream Trilogy later in the 90s. New Nightmare is one of the smartest films ever released in this genre.
