Our latest reports with @DeutscheUmwelt examine Germany’s Klimaschutzverträge (KSV) (buff.ly/4jQtdut) and H2Global (buff.ly/4jPbjIp), identifying key risks and recommendations to align with climate and development goals.
The pilot tender has incomplete water and land use safeguards, which risk prioritising hydrogen production over local resource use. The tender also misses the opportunity to promote surplus sharing and long-term sustainable local value creation.
Without stronger safeguards, KSV and H2Global risk falling short of their sustainability goals.

How do we get to #NetZero?
While long-term targets make the headlines, it’s the short-term and mid-term steps — through policies and 2030 goals — that can truly define success.
Our latest report dives into this bridge to net zero. Click to read now 🔗 bit.ly/BridgeToNetZero
Findings:
1⃣ Current policies & NDCs way off track to meet net-zero goals
2⃣ Net-zero targets still result in substantial residual emissions: They could hit 12.6 GtCO₂e—33% of 2019 global emissions.
3⃣ Many net-zero targets lack evidence, raising concerns of credibility
The next round of NDCs is an opportunity to carefully consider the interplay between long-term & mid-term targets. At the same time, countries should also set adequate short-term actions to bridge the gap between current policies & own net-zero targets
