For those of you crying or outraged over the Marine that was "Fired", in reality he was relieved of duty. He's still getting paid, for how much longer will depend on his commanding officer. Best case scenario he gets punished under article 15 and gets to stay in the Marine Corps. Worst case scenario he gets court martialed under Article 133, conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman and/or Article 134, offenses against the good order and discipline of the military, UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice). Those of us that have served or are currently serving know or should know that the military is not a practioner of democracy, never has been nor should it ever be. If the Marine is court martialed he faces at best a reduction in rank, possibly a loss of his commission. At worst a dishonorable discharge and/or imprisonment. Unlike in the civilian world there are real consequences to being a shit bag and generally a shitty human being.

The reality is that they do pay taxes. Just not enough to satisfy some people. Also they don't have to cheat, it's all perfectly legal. Anyone who has ever done their own taxes knows or should know that their tax bracket is not determined by their gross income. It is this very fact that allows everyone to pay less in taxes then they ordinarily would have. This is the very nature of the marginal tax system, we are never taxed on our gross. This is how and why the wealthy end up paying very little taxes, 100% legally. This also why the tax debate is a red herring, because no matter what they do, raise taxes or lower them, the end result remains exactly the same. Because, if you make 10 million a year and are still able to legally reduce your tax bracket to 20% regardless of a tax increase what exactly has changes? Nothing at all. The solution is and always has been to eliminate the marginal tax system and replace it with a graded flat taxe system were your gross income determines your tax rate.
