This week I had the opportunity to speak with @SecRollins about specialty crops, foreign investment in agriculture, and fertilizer. Specifically, I brought to her attention the quality loss reporting deadline within the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program which is unworkable for our apple and pear farmers. I am grateful for her commitment to continue to work with me on this issue.

As a third-generation farmer in Central Washington, I know firsthand the challenges facing farm country as they produce the food, fuel, and fiber for consumers both here and around the globe.

This June is National Dairy Month. Join me in celebrating the dairy industry across Central Washington which employs thousands of people while contributing hundreds of millions of dollars to our region’s economy. In the Yakima Valley, our dairymen were subjected to lawfare during the previous Administration, and I am actively working with the EPA and Administrator Zeldin to remedy their situation and #SaveOurDairies. Support your local dairy with a glass of milk or a bowl of ice cream this month.

No veteran should lose their Second Amendment rights due to financial circumstances.
That's why I supported the Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act this week, which stops this injustice and ensures our veterans retain the constitutional rights they fought so hard to protect through their service.

Tonight the House passed my Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act. No veteran should lose their Second Amendment rights simply because they need help managing their finances, but that is exactly what’s been happening. Without a judge's ruling or any finding that a veteran is a danger to anyone, a VA bureaucrat could report them to the FBI's background check system and strip them of their right to bear arms. That is not how we treat the men and women who defended our Constitution. This bill puts a permanent end to that injustice, and as a Marine, proud gun owner, and Chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I could not be more proud to have led the charge for its passage.

Sugar growers are a critical part of our agricultural industry, but foreign, sugar-producing countries continue to engage in discriminatory trade practices.
That's why I was pleased to join over 100 of my colleagues across the House and Senate on a bipartisan letter urging @USTradeRep to take swift action and protect sugar producers across the country.
More than 110 members of Congress sent a letter to the @USTradeRep, led by @SenJohnHoeven and @SenatorSlotkin and @RepFedorchak and @RepTroyCarter, urging USTR to take immediate action against the flood of over-quota foreign sugar devastating the livelihoods of family farmers and factory workers.
We deeply appreciate this bipartisan and bicameral effort to defend the American sugar industry against unfair trading practices.

The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act addresses the barriers of new home construction, streamlines programs at HUD, and ensures capital for first-time buyers is readily available. The housing crisis continues to impact communities across the country, and Central Washington is no exception. Congress must advance a package to the President’s desk that will deliver for American families.

I was pleased to support the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Bill.
This legislation builds on House Republicans’ commitment to supporting veterans, our soldiers and their families, and it represents the beginning of our appropriations process for FY27.
Investing billions in infrastructure improvements at VA medical facilities nationwide, this bill will help our service members and veterans struggling with mental health challenges while also strengthening suicide prevention programs.
America’s men and women in uniform deserve the best care, and I will always look out for those who volunteer to defend our nation.

Today, I joined 78 of my House colleagues on a bipartisan letter to United States Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer. We highlighted struggles facing our specialty crop farmers, unfair regulations putting American farmers at risk, and lopsided production advantages that countries like Mexico exploit. I applaud my friend Rep. Austin Scott for his leadership on this issue.

Yesterday, I was pleased to convene dozens of industry leaders, state legislators, and stakeholders in Moses Lake for a Central Washington Energy Summit.
From the only nuclear power reactor in the region to abundant hydropower on the Columbia and Snake Rivers, Washingtonians know better than most the importance of smart energy policy.
A huge thanks to Big Bend Community College for hosting. And to all who came, participated and stopped by, it was great to see you.
