Beyond thrilled to share my PhD work, published yesterday in @Dev_Cell. We show that both NODAL and BMP signalling are active in the human blastocyst, but NODAL signalling is not required to initiate or maintain the human pluripotent epiblast. 1/10
Online now: Initiation and maintenance of the pluripotent epiblast in pre-implantation human development is independent of NODAL signaling dlvr.it/TGFtBj

We are absolutely delighted to announce that the Centre for Trophoblast Research has been named in honour of Professor Charlie Y.W. Loke! Read more about the Loke Centre's new name on our website: tinyurl.com/LokeCTR

🤰Most of the major disorders of #pregnancy — pre-eclampsia, stillbirth, growth restriction — stem from failings in the way the #placenta develops in the first few weeks. And yet the placenta is an often overlooked organ in medical science. Thanks to the founding support of Professor Charlie Y.W. Loke in 2007 @Loke_CTR has emerged as an international leader in the study of the placenta and maternal-fetal interactions during pregnancy. 🙏 📢 A transformational donation by Amanda Louise Kwai-Lin Loke in honour of her father will support all core research and training activities of the Loke Centre, ensuring its operation in perpetuity. 🔗 bit.ly/3XdeUWn

Women are born with all their oocytes, which need to stay viable for decades to ensure fertility. How are they maintained for that long? Our latest research in @NatureCellBio reveals that oocyte maintenance involves exceptional protein longevity. nature.com/articles/s41556-0… (1/9)

Protein structures reveal incredible mechanisms, but system-level questions were tough. How much can you generalize from one protein at a time? With AlphaFold that's changed. We predicted 11k enzymes and explore how evolution shaped them #AlphaFold tinyurl.com/mryk6app
