Hello, my new followers. Since that random post went viral (well, viral *for me*), I figured I’d introduce myself and give you a chance to unfollow.
I’m ordained American Baptist.
I’m Wesleyan in most things sans baptism and ecclesiology.
I’m evangelical, egalitarian, and hold to a traditional sexual ethic.
I’m basically a New Testament theologian.
Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox are fellow Christians, and I love talking with serious folks in those sides of the Christian family.
My first two degrees were film degrees, so you may get the occasional movie take.
I’m married to Allison and we’re mom and dad to a five year old and a soon-to-be-born little one.
I pastor in the Greater Los Angeles area.
I homebrew.
My PhD (ABD) is on the New Testament and Universal Salvation (no, not a universalist).
I have too much grey in my beard.
I’m also buds with @thechurchsplit and @DPGBehler and @jdpritchett so you can tell my sense of humor is broken.

In 2024, the Law Amendment against women pastors received 61.45% of the vote but failed in 2025 to reach the two-thirds (66%) threshold to amend the constitution, with only 60.74% support.
In 2026, the Truth and Unity Amendment received 74.66% of the votes and is in a much stronger position to win the 66% needed next year.

Seth Lugo just took a 106.6 mph liner from Brandon Nimmo off his head. Lugo got up quick, but had a sizeable lump on his forehead. He's coming out of the game.
Nimmo sprinted to the mound to check on Lugo afterwards. The two were teammates on the Mets from 2016-22.
