Over 25 yrs ago these #NHS offices could have been a school club & provided much needed outdoor space for the adjoining primary school. Instead a beautiful building has been left to rot & lie unused for 25 years ๐Ÿ˜”. We need stronger rules around repurposing empty properties

A simple way to reduce pressure on A&E departments & the #NHS is to follow the evidence & reduce road speeds in urban/residential areas to 20mph ๐Ÿ‘‡. It also makes people feel safer to be more active ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšฒ๐Ÿ›ด๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿฆฝ as well as reducing car insurance costs for drivers ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ @HfdsCouncil
Wales achieved a 26% reduction in casualties on 20/30mph roads when a default 20 was set. But if you exclude the casualties on roads that didn't change the reduction increases to 37%. See the 1st presentation in our webinar vimeo.com/video20splentyforuโ€ฆ

Photo books of @CommunityPlann1โ€™s day of action delivered to all four opposition parties โœ… I am on the train home after meetings in Parliament with (in alphabetical order): - Conservatives, Alex Burghart (and also Bernard Jenkin, who is my MP), who Kemi Badenoch sent to collect the photobook; - Green Party, Adrian Ramsay; - LibDems, Gideon Amosโ€ฆwell, his staffer, as Amos was double-booked. But Gideon will take a photo with our book; - Reform, Danny Krueger. I will post the videos/photos later once I have sorted through them all. Everybody LOVED all your photos, and it was a powerful way of petitioning and getting messages across. So, well done with your events on the day of action. We will deal with Labour once we know if there is going to be a Leadership election. We have asked several times for a meeting with Reed/Pennycook.

๐Ÿ“ฐ The news that Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) loopholes risk England's poorest communities being deprived of trees, green spaces and wildlife picked up a lot of attention last week - and rightly so. People deserve homes surrounded by trees, nature and healthy green spaces and new development should help create greener, healthier places to live. Read the report and find out more ๐Ÿ‘‡

Nature has always had solutions to natural problems. Let nature teach us rather than man destroying & trying to control the consequences of that destruction.
Nice to see something positive. #Mangroves store 5x more CO2 than land-based forests, their tangled roots can also slow down waves & protect coastal communities from storm surges & tsunamis. These provide a perfect nursery for many species of fish and other marine life.

We all can play a role to tread more lightly on the fabric of our world - avoid products containing palm oil as a start which drives alot of deforestation.
We're losing 10M hectares of forest yearly. That's 27 soccer fields per minute. Air pollution kills 7M people/year. More than COVID at its peak. 1M species face extinction. We're in the 6th mass extinction event. Like, comment and repost let's accelerate climate education.

Bonkers is an understatement. Heartless is another (for the inhabitants of the area who will be at the receiving end of compulsory purchase orders, and for the nature that's made homeless). Dangerous is another word (for the 45,000 acres of best and most versatile land taken out of production as food shortages loom). And unnecessary.

Several interesting things about this article. Firstly, these are not deserted fields. They are best and most versatile arable land. 45,000 acres of them. They produce FOOD. And given the many food security klaxons sounding currently, we need food producing land and we should not cover it in concrete. 1/ ft.com/content/e50ffbb3-45e7โ€ฆ
