Bitcoin gave us decentralized money. Ethereum gave us a world computer. Everything since has been a cheaper, faster copy of the same idea. Ritual is the first L1 where models, data, and money all run natively in the chain, the last one you'll need to build on.

Blockchain act like massive global computer but they’ve been missing a critical component: RAM. This is where Decentralized Shared Memory (DeSM) by Optimum come in, think of it as the "memory layer" or shared RAM for Web3. Right now most blockchains use gossip based data propagation, It work but it causes huge data redundancy, network congestion, high latency and extremely expensive state storage, we have the VM (the processors), but no high performance shared memory. DeSM fixes this, it allows apps and node to read and write data quickly, consistently (atomicity) and securely without relying on centralized servers. How does it work under the hood? It leverages Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC), a technology born from MIT research, instead of blindly copying data across all nodes, DeSM encodes it for efficient distribution. This result in: ⚡ Crazy fast data propagation 🛡️ Deep resistance to data loss (Fault tolerance) 📉 Reduced node synchronization needs 🌐 Massive bandwidth efficiency The entire network run on Flexnode, meaning users or dApps can connect anywhere to perform data operation seamlessly. Bottom line: If we want genuinely scalable Web3 application like AI, fully onchain gaming, decentralized social network, or high frequency trading we need better infrastructure. DeSM is building the RAM to make that happen. @get_optimum

Blockchain are great for basic, deterministic logic, but they completely choke when handling massive AI workloads, running billion of mathematical operation onchain trigger insane gas fees and hits rigid hardware bottleneck. This is where "expressive compute" come in. In the AI x Crypto space, expressive compute refers to the capacity to execute highly complex, resource heavy and non deterministic workload like AI model inference that standard smart contract environments (like the EVM) just weren't built to handle. Instead of forcing every single validator to repeat the same massive calculation on identical setup, expressive compute allows the system to tap into specialized, heterogeneous hardware. Through Ritual Infernet architecture, this heavy lifting is done offchain by specialized node (using GPU/TPU tailored to the model), while the verifiable result is securely routed back to the smart contract. It fundamentally shift Web3 from treating AI as an awkward, bolt-on oracle to making high performance, complex computation a native, verifiable primitive for intelligent dApps and autonomous agent. @ritualnet | @ritualfnd

Smart contract are called "smart" but honestly they're kind of dumb they can only run the same replicated computation across every node. No AI, no ZK proofs, no complex cryptography just basic transaction logic. That's where Ritual Expressive Compute come in. Instead of forcing every node to re-execute the same heavy workload, Ritual lets smart contract natively access heterogeneous compute meaning AI inference, Zero-Knowledge proof generation, Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) and other specialized operation that traditional blockchain simply can't handle efficiently. The implementation? EVM an EVM compatible extension that adds expressive compute precompiles, which connect to Execution Sidecars, these are dedicated environments that offload heavy workloads (AI, ZK, TEE) away from the main blockchain execution engine, keeping everything performant without bottlenecking the chain. The result: onchain apps that can actually think. Not just move tokens around, but run real AI models, verify cryptographic proof and execute inside secure enclaves all natively all onchain. This is what it means for smart contracts to be truly smart. @ritualnet | @ritualfnd

Blockchain are acting like global computer, but they completely forgot one crucial component: RAM. Right now blockchain architecture lack a dedicated memory layer, this lead to slow data access, massive propagation bottleneck and highly inefficient storage where nodes just constantly duplicate data, if we want next gen apps like AI, high frequency trading and real time Web3 games to actually work onchain we can't keep relying on slow global state update. This is exactly the problem Optimum is solving. Optimum introduces DeRAM (Decentralized Random Access Memory), it’s a specialized memory infrastructure that finally gives blockchain the high speed, real time read/write capabilitie they desperately need. Powered by Flexnode and Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC), Optimum DeRAM delivers low latency access while maintaining Atomicity, Consistency and Durability (ACD), it cut down redundant data movement and drastically improve bandwidth efficiency. In short: Optimum is giving blockchain the memory upgrade they need to stop lagging and start functioning like actual modern computer. @get_optimum

This comic captures exactly why I'm excited about @ritualfnd We spent years treating smart contracts as deterministic state machines. EVM changes the paradigm: → AI inference becomes a native primitive → ZK proving & verification happen on-chain → TEE enables secure off-chain compute with verifiable results → Scheduled transactions & Native AA improve UX dramatically We're moving from programmable money to programmable intelligence. Thanks @NineMay_ID for making one of the most complex ideas in crypto fun and approachable.
Most smart contract aren't really that "smart" they mostly just execute basic deterministic math. Ritual is changing the game by upgrading to EVM , bringing heterogeneous compute and expressive compute precompiles directly onchain. What does this actually mean for dApps? Instead of just moving tokens around, your smart contract can now do the heavy lifting: 🤖 Native AI inference right inside the contract 🔐 ZK proof generation & verification 🛡️ Secure TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) execution ⏳ Scheduled Transaction & Native Account Abstraction We're officially moving past simple determinism, by bridging these advanced offchain capabilities into an Ethereum compatible environment, Ritual is giving dApps the superpower they need to become "Actually Smart Contract". @ritualnet | @ritualfnd #RitualComic edition w/ @rikkydwiyanto

Blockchain are hitting a wall, we’ve scaled compute and execution, but we completely ignored memory, the result? Network congestion, wasted bandwidth from redundant gossip protocols and massive state bloat making storage insanely expensive. Enter Optimum: The missing memory layer for Web3. Built on MIT RLNC tech, Optimum act like the RAM your blockchain desperately need. Right now, blockchain don't have a true memory equivalent, which make building real time apps nearly impossible. Optimum tackle these core bottleneck head on: ⚡️ OptimumP2P: An ultra fast, low latency networking protocol that stops data redundancy and accelerates transaction & block propagation. 💾 DeRAM (Decentralized RAM): Rapid, low cost read/write access to blockchain state. It finally gives the network its own decentralized memory. Without a true memory layer, real time onchain gaming, high frequency trading and AI are just pipe dream. Optimum is building the exact infrastructure to make them a reality. Reducing latency, increasing throughput, lowering storage cost. @get_optimum

Most people think we can just plug AI into existing blockchains like Ethereum and call it a day. The reality? They are fundamentally mismatched. Traditional blockchain run on "replicated execution" meaning every node does the exact same simple task identically, but AI workloads are entirely different, AI requires "heterogeneous compute" (a mix of CPU, specialized H100 GPU and TPU) to function efficiently, standard chain simply aren't designed to manage these diverse hardware need. On top of that, running AI onchain requires absolute VERIFICATION, if an AI model generates an output, we can't just trust it; we need cryptographic proofs (like ZK) to guarantee the model was run correctly and the output is legit. This is exactly why Ritual is building a custom blockchain infrastructure. Instead of relying on clunky external oracle, Ritual make AI a native primitive, their architecture is designed for "expressive compute" bringing AI inference, ZK proving and Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) directly onchain. Diverse hardware support verifiable computational integrity deep native integration, no more standard blockchain bottleneck, this is the only way to build proper trustless AI onchain. @ritualnet | @ritualfnd #RitualComic edition w/ @0xhammadx

# 105 🍷 Today, I tried making @NineMay_ID stickers! Isn't the way she subtly offers a glass of wine with that haughty expression just so charming? 😎 Thank you so much for waiting so long! # 104 Today, I created stickers for @superJinee, who lives in the faraway land of Mexico and is always like sunshine ☀️ Although it has been quite a while since I got to know her, Jinee is someone with a warm heart that remains unchanged over time. She is the kind of person who puts her heart into cheering for others, reaches out first when someone is struggling, and naturally spreads good energy whenever she is in the community. Perhaps that is why places where Jinee is always feel a little brighter and a little warmer ☺️ I tried to capture that lovely and cozy charm in these stickers as well. I dedicate these stickers to the lovely Jinee, who always spreads happiness to many people with her beautiful heart, just as she is now.💚 @ritualnet_korea @Jez_Cryptoz @ritualnet @ritualfnd @joshsimenhoff @mongdiny

Most blockchain today are stuck doing the same basic, repeated execution, but what if your chain could actually handle real brain power? That’s the core design goal behind Ritual Chain, They are moving past traditional limit to introduce expressive, heterogeneous compute. Instead of relying on clunky offchain oracle, Ritual is built from the ground up to run advanced workload directly and natively onchain, including: 🤖 AI Inference (LLM) 🔐 Zero Knowledge (ZK) Proof 🛡️ Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) It’s a massive leap forward, by moving from simple repeated task to truly expressive compute, Ritual is giving developers the tools to build complex, next gen dApps and onchain experiences that were completely impossible on traditional chain. The future of Web3 isn't just basic transactions; it's expressive. @ritualnet | @ritualfnd #RitualComic edition w/ @0xTremolo

A lot of folks think Ritual VM is just a turbocharged EVM built for speed. Short answer: No. It’s entirely different, let’s break down Ritual VM vs Traditional EVM. 🧵👇 Traditional EVM are great for standard smart contract, but the moment you want to run AI inference, ZK proof, or TEE, you're forced to rely on clunky external oracle. It's a massive hassle. Ritual VM (EVM ) change the game by making heterogeneous compute NATIVE. How? Enter 'Execution Sidecars', think of them as specialized assistants for the main chain, they handle the heavy lifting (AI, ZK, TEE) offchain, but devs can call them easily just like a standard precompile in Solidity! TLDR: 🔹 Traditional EVM: a platform for standard smart contract. 🔹 Ritual VM: an EVM extended with native AI, ZK and heterogeneous compute. It’s not just about transactions; it’s the ultimate blockchain for 'Expressive Computation'. @ritualnet | @ritualfnd #RitualComic edition w/ @DzaRra234

Another tool on @ritualnet testnet: Spin Wheels Giveaway Picker, built by @NineMay_ID. A giveaway picker wheel built specifically for the Ritual community. You paste in a list of wallet addresses or usernames, spin for 0.01 RITUAL, and get a random winner. You can also customize segments, shuffle entries, and track past winners. Useful for anyone running campaigns or community events on Ritual, instead of picking a winner manually. Not every useful app has to be a game or a DeFi protocol. Sometimes the ecosystem just needs practical tools like this.
