Two years ago I learned that six of my cousins were killed by an IDF airstrike in Gaza while sheltering in their church: Viola & Yara, and four young children—Alia, Juliet, George & Joelle.
May their memories be eternal, and may God watch over all the suffering people of Gaza.

I was really worried about this. 😔 With great sadness, I have now confirmed that several of my relatives (including Viola and Yara pictured here) were killed at Saint Porphyrius Orthodox Church in Gaza, where they had been sheltering, when part of the complex was destroyed as the result of an Israeli airstrike. Give rest, O Lord, to their souls, and may their memories be eternal.
The Palestinian Christian community has endured so much. Our family is hurting badly. May God watch over all Christians in Gaza—and all Israelis and Palestinians who are suffering, whatever their religion or creed.

For years, Palestinians have warned that the Gaza blockade, continued impoverishment, aggression, and fragmentation of their communities would eventually lead to an explosion — and here it is. It’s not surprising that it happened; what’s surprising is that it took this long.

#Gaza has been under a naval blockade & land siege for 17 years & its 2 mil Palestinians subject to 4 large scale offensives. Any shock in response to this multi scalar attack reflects an expectation that those Palestinians die quietly and a complicity in their strangulation.
