Valuing a raw, damaged card at PSA 1 prices is the same thing as valuing NM "pack fresh" cards at PSA 10 prices.
Raw does not command graded prices, for ANY grade. Full stop.
Seems like there are no good guys in this scandal. Let's recap:
1. A vendor valuing a raw card at PSA grade premiums.
2. A grading company grading their own promo card as a Gem Mint 10 - huge conflict of interest.
3. A Pokémon "celebrity" ascribing *market value* to his own product. Sure, you can charge whatever you want for your autograph. But inflating the value of an item based on it's market potential -- which relevant recent market data doesn't support -- is dishonest.
What is the solution? Maybe there isn't one. But parents - do not leave your young children unattended at card shows. Knowledge is power. Educate yourself on card values, conditions, and how the market works. No one will advocate for you better than yourself.
There are so many kind, generous, and wholesome interactions that happen at card shows between collectors and vendors. It's unfortunate that this incident highlighted the community in a negative way. This is not a reflection of the majority of fans in the hobby.

Turns out it IS the same card and this guy is valuing it as a potential PSA 1 lol.
