I wish platonic relationships were valued more. I’m tired of watching friendships fade the moment someone starts dating. Tired of being told I’m suddenly less important because I’m not the person they’re in love with or sleeping with.
And every time I talk about it, someone says, “Don’t worry, you’ll find someone someday.”
That’s not the point.
I shouldn’t need a romantic partner to feel loved, prioritized, or important. Maybe the problem isn’t that people are single. Maybe it’s that we’ve built a culture that expects one person to fulfill every emotional need while friendships get pushed to the sidelines.
Love shouldn’t only count when it’s romantic.
