#IndigenousPeoplesDay 87% of U.S. history standards relegate Native Americans to the past tense (pre-1900). Here are stories of Native American activism from the 1960s to the present to #TeachOutsideTextbook in U.S. history classes. #PeoplesHistory ⬇️ zinnedproject.org/materials/…

It's often said: White kids, upon being taught the history of racism, will feel guilty or bad about being White. In fact, White kids who receive antiracist history lessons exhibit fewer racist ideas about Black people while their attitudes about White people are unaffected.

Would you help me share this speech (#TheOtherAmerica) from my father?: youtu.be/dOWDtDUKz-U Many are getting #MLK wrong. He was a dreamer, but his dream was global, inclusive, and deeply rooted in love and commitment to eradicating what he called the Triple Evils.

Today, and every day, we honor Dr. King's legacy by teaching his philosophy and strategies of Nonviolence to school staff and students. We love you Dr. King. Thank you!
Today, I remember your grace, your kindness, and your heart. I remember how you taught me--all of us--the power of love and central importance of peace, justice, and equity. Dad, I miss you every day. But I also find courage and peace in your legacy.

Powerful: Ranking Member @RepMcGovern just read an entire book into the record. “It's called The Life of Rosa Parks by Kathleen Connors. It was pulled from second grade classrooms in the Duval County public school district in Florida. So let's just see what's so objectionable.”
