I’m no longer a teen nuclear advocate! Unfortunately for my haters, I started young and I’m not going anywhere. Nuclear is inevitable in Australia and we have the momentum. Over 118,000 have signed our petition to legalise nuclear, a bill to lift the NSW ban just passed the Upper House and the rest of the world are showing Australia the way with major new investments. Thanks everyone for the support!

A reactor just went critical in Idaho!! For most people, that sounds alarming… But, for nuclear lovers, it’s one of the most exciting milestones imaginable & here’s why 🧵⚛️

Now, criticality is only the beginning. The reactor still has a long road ahead before commercial deployment. But every reactor that eventually powers a city, a military base, a data center, or a remote community starts with this moment!!

For nuclear lovers, first criticality is magic 🤩⚛️ It’s the moment years of hard work & calculations stop being theory & became a reality Congratulations to the @AntaresNuclear & @INL teams !!

Many of you know me as Nuclear Hazelnut. Today I’m posting as Jen. This is Pachis. He has been my best friend for the last 15 years. He’s currently in intensive care fighting a severe illness& my family is doing everything we can to help him recover. The cost of his treatment is becoming overwhelming, so my sister created a GoFundMe to help us cover his medical care. If you can donate, share, or simply send good thoughts his way, I would be incredibly grateful!!! Thank you for supporting my little guy❤️🐩 gofund.me/c7583e9f8

Today I'm 44 years old. I've still got my two front teeth, so all I want for my birthday is for you to consider subscribing to my Substack: decouple.media/ I was 36 when I fell down the nuclear energy rabbit hole. Over the past 8 years I've had the privilege of leading the long shot campaign to save the Pickering Nuclear Station and founding @DecoupleMedia which has served as an intellectual force multiplier for the global nuclear advocacy movement. Along the way I've interviewed hundreds of experts, chalked up more than 5 million views and earned a dedicated listenership in some of the highest decision making bodies in industry, government and finance. I am most proud of carving out a free speech platform within an industry with precious little room for internal debate. I've made more than a few mistakes, changed my mind on important issues, and learned far more than I've ever taught. While I'll continue hosting the Decouple podcast, I'm increasingly focusing on developing my ideas in written form on Substack. If you've enjoyed following the journey, cheering on the wins, rolling your eyes at the occasional bad take, or learning something alongside me, I'd be very grateful if you'd join me there. It's been a wild ride so far. I wouldn't change it for the world. I'm looking forward to writing the next chapter with your support. decouple.media/

Welcome to Texas 🤠 where everything is bigger… and where 4 nuclear reactors quietly generate about 10% of the state’s electricity!

Did you know that a microreactor could power a venue like Atlético Madrid’s Riyadh Air Metropolitano for years? 🤔⚛️ Home to Atlético Madrid & one of Spain’s largest entertainment venues, the stadium can host ~70,000 fans for football matches & ~60,000 people for major concerts. Whether it’s a Champions League match or tonight’s Bad Bunny concert, a venue of this size can consume roughly ~15 MWh of electricity per event to power lighting, giant screens, sound systems, security/operations. A 10 MW microreactor could generate that amount of electricity while providing reliable, carbon-free power for years without refueling. I really enjoy watching sports live & tonight it’s Bad Bunny time🐰⚛️ 📸: Riyadh Air Metropolitano, Madrid 🇪🇸

Am I the only one that wonders what would happen if I fell into those pools where spent nuclear fuel rods are cooled down? How would falling in here affect our health? And could we actually survive this? Let’s evaluate this possibility. 🤔

Just landed in Spain &to my surprise, I was able to spot Trillo Nuclear Power Plant from the airplane!! Seeing a nuclear plant from the sky is always exciting 🤩 Sending greetings to @OperadorNuclear & all the professionals keeping Spain’s nuclear fleet running safely every day!! What I still find hard to understand is that Spain officially plans to shut down its entire nuclear fleet by 2035, despite these plants providing ~20% of the country’s electricity & operating safely for decades. Spain has world-class nuclear facilities, let’s hope common sense prevails ⚛️🇪🇸

Flying to Spain & getting a bigger radiation dose from the trip than from a year working at a nuclear power plant ⚛️ And it’s completely fine! See you soon, Spain! 🇪🇸
