Day two of the 2026 Annual Summer Conference kicked off with our Dash for Democracy 5K and wrapped up another great gathering of Ohio’s election officials. Attendees heard updates on the Ohio Election Integrity Commission, got a “lesson in yes” from keynote speaker Cameron Mitchell, and took part in a discussion featuring Ohio’s candidates for Secretary of State. As Secretary @FrankLaRose’s final Annual Summer Conference, we’re grateful to Ohio’s election officials for their continued dedication to serving voters and building confidence in our elections.

Today, Heather Hill filed paperwork with our office to run as a write-in candidate for governor. Her running mate listed for lieutenant governor is Patrick Manley.

Yesterday, election officials from across Ohio gathered for the first day of the 2026 Annual Summer Conference. The day featured election administration achievement awards, partnership discussions, federal policy updates, and best-practice breakout sessions. We concluded the evening with a Raise a Glass reception, celebrating the dedicated professionals on the front lines of democracy who serve Ohio voters every day.

I’m not sure many know the complexity of pulling off a statewide election. The planning and prep, the testing, the security protocols, poll worker recruitment and training, early voting, the logistics of staging and staffing what are essentially highly technical pop-up shops that move hundreds of thousands of people through temporary venues in a 13-hour window of time. Then taking it all down while continuing to finalize vote counts and audit results over the next few weeks. Many election officials, including my staff, pull a nearly 24-hour shift from Election Day to the next morning. It’s a finely orchestrated symphony of teamwork that proves Ohio to be the gold standard of election administration. I truly wish you could see it all come together like I do, because it inspires confidence and pride. I simply want to say thank you to the thousands of people, public officials and volunteers, who make it all happen. Our democracy thrives because of you.
