In his first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo XIV extensively discussed the implications of emerging technology and reaffirmed the Catholic Church’s consistent recognition of the inherent dignity and value of every human life, from fertilization until natural death.
“...the first [right] is the right to life, from conception to its natural end, without which it is impossible to exercise any other right,” the first American pope wrote. “When this fundamental right is denied — as in the cases of induced abortion, killing of the innocent and euthanasia — we are faced with choices that the Church considers gravely wrong.”
Pope Leo, who earlier this year affirmed that “no policy can genuinely serve the people if it denies the unborn the gift of life, or if it neglects to support those in need,” emphasized in his encyclical that human rights are “inviolable” and “inalienable,” meaning that they cannot be denied based on outside circumstances.
“It is individuals that matter, each and every person, together with their families,” Pope Leo XIV said. “Social movements, communal ideologies and grand political proclamations in favor of a population are worthless unless they lead to the flourishing of persons — men and women — with their inalienable rights.”

The love of a mother echoes far beyond her own lifetime.
Through countless sacrifices, sleepless nights, prayers, hugs, lessons, and acts of love, mothers help shape the future one child at a time.
Strong moms. Strong families. Strong communities.
Equal rights shouldn't depend on age, size, ability, location, or stage of development.
The unique life that exists in the womb is the same human being that grows into a child, a teenager, and eventually an adult.
If human rights belong to all human beings, that means they belong to every human being... Regardless of their stage of development.
Equal rights for all. From the beginning.

With the momentum and positivity from the Oregon March for Life behind us, our team is getting ready for one of our biggest outreach opportunities: Hosting pro-life booths at fairs across the state.
With these booths, we ensure that hundreds of thousands of people have access to the message that every human life has value and deserves protection.
Fair-goers get to see and hold lifelike baby models, watch a true-to-life video showing fetal development in the womb, and even hear a recording of an unborn baby’s heartbeat on our special retro telephone.
We are so grateful for all our amazing volunteers who make these events possible year after year, enabling us to have important conversations with Oregonians about abortion and the humanity of the unborn. And even, sometimes, be there to help them choose life.
Can you help out at your local fair this year?

Too often, people believe a dangerously false story about Down syndrome.
Parents getting a prenatal diagnosis of Trisomy 21 hear that their unborn baby will have a terrible quality of life. And they come to believe that their child's disability will effectively ruin the lives of his or her family,
Worse, they're frequently told they'd be better off ending their child's life through abortion.
The result is a national tragedy: 67% to 85% of unborn babies with Down syndrome are aborted in the United States.
While many believe it's compassionate to choose abortion, it's simply not: it's a devaluation of the lives of the disabled and an example of modern eugenics.
The reality is that people with Down syndrome have the same human rights and dignity as anyone else. They live incredibly diverse, creative, and happy lives, loved and cherished by their families. And modern medical advancements have drastically improved their health and wellbeing.
So don't believe the false narratives.
Spread the truth: Every life is precious.

The U.S. Supreme Court today issued an order permitting the distribution of dangerous abortion pills through the mail amid an ongoing lawsuit by the state of Louisiana against the FDA.
The move comes after a federal appellate court issued a unanimous decision earlier this month that – if allowed to take effect – would have blocked mail-order abortion nationwide.
Oregon Right to Life Executive Director Lois Anderson responded to the news, calling it a “major disappointment” that will jeopardize women and unborn babies nationwide.

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals today blocked an FDA rule permitting the mail-order abortion.
The decision applies nationwide, reestablishing critical regulations on the dangerous drug which is increasingly prescribed online and mailed nationwide – including to states with laws banning or limiting abortion.
“When the FDA recklessly allowed the abortion pill to be prescribed online and sent through the mail, it created an environment where anyone could access mifepristone through a simple online form,” Oregon Right to Life executive director Lois Anderson.
“The results have been serious. Women and girls have been placed at risk of injury and even death because they did not receive basic protections like accurate pregnancy dating or screenings for ectopic pregnancy. Abusive partners have been able to obtain mifepristone to secretly cause forced abortions. The harm is far from theoretical.”
“The abuse is real and it’s about time it was stopped,” she added. “The Fifth Circuit Court made the right decision today.”
