The Eurasian whimbrel is a large wading bird with long legs and bill that curves near the tip. In flight, its feathers form a white โVโ shape. Often found in small flocks, sometimes with other species. The one pictured here was spotted in the southern North Sea in the summer.
Rigs-to-Reefs repurposes decommissioned structures as artificial reefs, providing habitat for a diverse range of species. This has been a core research topic for OSC since our founding. Our work includes ROV records of marine biota associated with an offshore production platform.
