Thank you to everyone who joined the #OSSTF Post-Secondary Education Town Hall last night. We were proud to have Cyrielle Ngeleka - @CFSON, Ricardo Tranjan - @ccpa, Michelle Dayboll (OSSTF/FEESO Algoma University Support Staff), and Joe Rooyakkers (OSSTF/FEESO University of Guelph Support Staff) as panellists. They discussed the impact of chronic underfunding on students, university workers, and communities across Ontario. Together, we will continue advocating for the sustainable public investment that Ontario's universities need. #OnPoli #OnPSE

Education Forum goes digital! The digital edition of #EducationForum is officially launched and our first feature is of Pat Wright - a trailblazing educator, equity leader, and union pioneer. She was the first Black elected official to the OSSTF/FEESO Provincial Executive, representing members nationally and internationally. Pat's poem creates space for reflection, emotion, and meaning, especially when conversations about censorship feel charged or complex. This piece invites readers to pause, reflect, and engage before moving into analysis and debate. Stay tuned on our social media for more phenomenal #EducationForum articles and features and also visit education-forum.ca/

June 5 is #WorldEnvironmentDay - the focus this year is on climate change. For decades, the world has heard the climate story—warnings, targets, distant deadlines. Too often, the response has been clouded by noise: delay, distraction, denial. Beneath the noise, another signal is rising. Solar panels stretch across rooftops. Wind turbines line the horizon. Cities are being redesigned for people. Forests are being replanted. Climate solutions are taking root in every corner of the planet. We must begin today to take action - find out more here worldenvironmentday.global/2… #NowForClimate

Yesterday, President Martha Hradowy alongside Ontario’s education unions stood united to call for meaningful bargaining that puts students first. Together, @etfoeducators, @catholic_teachers , @osbcucscsocupe , @AEFO_ON_CA and OSSTF/FEESO represent more than 255,000 teachers and education workers committed to strengthening publicly funded education across Ontario. Students and families deserve safe, stable, fully resourced schools. As we serve notice to bargain, we’re calling on the government to address chronic underfunding, understaffing, growing student needs, violence in schools, and the supports students and educators need to succeed. We’re ready to get to the table and focus on solutions that strengthen learning and working conditions for every student in Ontario. #OntEd #OSSTF #StrongerTogether

Yesterday #OSSTF Provincial Executive and Staff had the pleasure of welcoming teachers and education workers from Iceland to the OSSTF/FEESO Provincial Office. We shared experiences and perspectives on everything from AI in education, to different policy and political landscapes, collective bargaining, and organizing—and learned from one another about the challenges and successes facing education workers internationally. Solidarity knows no borders!

Today, @AEFO_ON_CA, @ETFOeducators, @OECTAProv, @osbcucscso, and #OSSTF each served notice to bargain. Students and families deserve a safe, stable, well-supported, and fully resourced publicly funded education system. Bargaining is one of the most powerful tools we have to make that happen. Teachers and education workers see firsthand the increasing pressures facing classrooms and schools every day, including growing student needs, violence in schools, inadequate supports for students with special education needs, large class sizes, insufficient staffing, and challenges in retaining and recruiting teachers and education workers. Students, teachers, and education workers should not have to rely on bargaining to secure the basic conditions needed for safe and successful schools. We urge the provincial government and employer bargaining agencies to come to the table as soon as possible, prepared to engage constructively in negotiations focused on ensuring every student has access to the supports, resources, and learning conditions they need to succeed. Ontario cannot continue through another year of underfunding, understaffing, and instability. Full statement: bit.ly/4uf1PdE
