Billionaires are trying to close our public schools with something called private school vouchers. They say it’ll help poor kids go to private schools. They call it ā€œschool choice.ā€ It all sounds so noble. But vouchers are the biggest scam I’ve ever seen.

Yesterday we had a very special visitor to the @kunhm… Ray Troll! He was very interested in our coelacanth and our entry way floor artwork! He wanted a special photo of the ichthyology department posing with the artwork

Successful long-term specimen care, curation, and data storage require expertise and a detailed and specific management plan (SMP). A clear and standardized SMP supports the data and integration required to achieve a truly #ExtendedSpecimen. #CollectionsAreEssential

If this is not an image of hell (in its literal sense) being unleashed on Earth, then I don’t know what is. If there was any common sense left, people would #revolt to overthrow this economic system. But you’ll all keep working those jobs and putting on your fake smiles in your Zoom meetings. Many of you will probably see your children die before you do. It’s what happens under these conditions. I don’t wish that on any parent. #climatecrisis

There are no more new words I can use to describe the current state of the climate crisis. The world is seeing abrupt change unlike anything it has seen in 66,000,000 years. Mass ecosystem die-offs, missing winters, sky-high sea surface temperatures are all becoming the norm.

Proud to be part of the University of Kansas #kunhm team that provided specimens from our valuable vertebrate collections for this effort
7 years of #overtTCN digitization efforts has produced > 25K datasets from >13K vertebrate specimens. It's been an incredible experience with amazing collaborators. While the project is oVer(t), it's just the beginning of an amazing shift in accessibility of musuem collections.
