Today is International Firefighters Day.
Words cannot express how grateful we are to our firefighters for everything they do to keep us safe, being there for us in our worst moments, and for giving back to our communities.

In Mississauga 200 retirement homes residents were served with a 90 day eviction notice.
The union alleges Chartwell planned a year ago to sell.

MNRF Minister Graydon Smith and Labour Minister Piccini need to stop ducking these workers and listen to the voices of forest firefighters, reclassify them as well as grant them the same WSIB coverage as urban firefighters. The Ford government needs to start Working for Workers.

Delivered a letter to Minister Piccini (MOL) today asking for a meeting to make sure that Forest Firefighters have their classification changed so that they are considered āfirefightersā and eligible for presumptive cancer coverage. Proper pay and PPE are also much needed!

During todays "clause by clause" of the Ford "Working for Workers Act" Bill 149, The government voted against recognizing Wildland Firefighters for the purposes of WSIA & other Acts, thereby denying them the rights to presumptive coverage for occupational illnesses. @OPSEU
