One of the biggest reasons users churn from SaaS products is a failure in Core Drive 2: Development & Accomplishment.
Users sign up for a tool to make progress, to become better at something. If they don't feel like they are winning or improving, they will leave. It's that simple.
Many products make two key mistakes here:
1. The Aha moment is buried too deep. Users have to complete a dozen steps before they experience the core value.
2. Progress isn't visualized. Users might be making strides, but if they can't see it through progress bars, badges, or meaningful feedback, it doesn't feel real.
Onboarding shouldn't just be a tutorial. It should be a series of small, achievable wins. Give the user a taste of success within the first 60 seconds. Make them feel capable and smart.
If your users don't feel a sense of accomplishment early and often, they won't stick around to find it later.
