India's defence growth story has made many milestones during the last 4399 Days of dynamic leadership of the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. GRSE Honoured at Governance Now PSU IT Awards for Technology-Driven Excellence Kolkata (04 Jun, 2026): Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) has been conferred with the “Best IT Implementation Project” Award at the 11th Governance Now PSU IT Awards on 29 May 26, at Hotel Eros, Nehru Place, New Delhi. GRSE Lays Keel for Fourth MPV, German Export Project Kolkata (May 30, 2026): Reinforcing its growing presence in the global commercial shipbuilding market, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd laid the keel of the fourth vessel under the Multi-Purpose Vessel (MPV) project for Germany’s Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH & Co. KG on Saturday, 30 May, 26. This milestone reflects steady progress in the execution of GRSE’s export orders and underscores the shipyard’s commitment to the vision of “Make in India, Make for the World.” This prestigious MPV project represents the largest commercial shipbuilding export order secured by GRSE and highlights the shipyard’s strategic emphasis on expanding its commercial portfolio while strengthening its position in international markets. The ceremony was graced by Shri M. Venkatesh Murthy, Executive Director, (Commercial Shipbuilding & Supply Chain Management), GRSE in the presence of senior officials from GRSE and representatives from the German shipping firm and DNV. The project entails the design and construction of a series of advanced CORAL 7500 DWT Multi-Purpose Vessels, being developed jointly by GRSE and Carsten Rehder, Germany. The first contract covering four vessels was signed in 2024. Subsequent agreements expanded the order book to twelve vessels. The final contracts including ninth to twelfth Hybrid Propulsion MPVs, were signed in September 2025. Each vessel in the series will measure 120 metres in length, with a beam of 17 metres and a draught of 5.85 metres. Designed to carry up to 7,500 metric tonnes of cargo, the ships feature a large cargo hold capable of handling bulk, general and project cargo. Their versatile design also enables the carriage of containers on hatch covers and multiple wind turbine blades on deck, enhancing operational efficiency and cargo-handling flexibility. The MPVs are being developed through close collaboration with leading German maritime firms, including F.H. Bertling, ForestWave Navigation/Schulte & Bruns, and Delft Shipping. On 27 May 2026, GRSE and the Technology Resource Communication and Service Centre (TRCSC), a Jamshedpur-based NGO, signed two MoUs at GRSE Bhavan in the presence of Capt (IN) P Sunilkumar (Retd.), Director (CP & P), GRSE. These MoUs establish the framework for projects to be executed under the company’s CSR budget for FY 2026-27, reinforcing our commitment to driving meaningful social change. MoU 1 (Skill Development for Unemployed Youths): A structured training program to be conducted in collaboration with TRCSC and Indo-Danish Tool Room. This initiative is designed to support unemployed youth from disadvantaged communities by equipping them with employable skills and opportunities for a dignified livelihood. MoU 2 (Livelihood for Marginalised Farmers): The initiative aims to address the socio-economic needs of small and marginal farming families. In a major step towards strengthening industry–academia collaboration, GRSE signed an MoU with IIT Kharagpur to drive research and innovation in key maritime domains. The MoU was signed by Capt (IN) P Sunilkumar (Retd.), Director (Corporate Planning & Personnel) and Professor Surjya Kanta Pal, Dean (Research & Development ),IIT-KGP in the presence of Cmde PR Hari, IN (Retd.), CMD, GRSE, Cdr Shantanu Bose, IN (Retd.), Director (Shipbuilding), GRSE, Shri Niranjan Bhalerao, Director (Finance), GRSE along with other officials from GRSE and professors from IIT-KGP.
