"My father realised that I had an interest in science," recalls Distinguished Professor Arthur Georges FAA (
@UniCanberra). "He was a politician and he brought me to Canberra quite often and one year, he took me across to show me the Shine Dome." Arthur, now a world-leading ecologist and herpetologist, is set to return to the Dome next month to be inducted into the Academy at
#ShineDome24.
"[My father] explained that it was the centre of academic life for scientists. As is anyone who sees it for the first time, I was really impressed. But back then in 1968, it was really out of the ordinary. That memory stayed with me forever."
Arthur will be inducted into the Academy along with 21 other new Fellows as part of our four-day annual event, Science at the Shine Dome. Learn more:
