I just learned that The Opportunity Agenda is closing its doors. While I understand that some nonprofits are being forced to wind down or merge, it doesn’t feel good to lose one of the more effective ones. So much of what I know about media, messaging, and public narrative came from my time as an @oppagenda Fellow.
I hope the staff land on their feet.

When I left prison, a correction officer said to me, "You being here helped me get my boat. And when your son gets here, he's gonna help my son get his boat." It's 25 years later, and one of my sons is a battle-tested US Marine, and the other is on his way to Duke University. But that didnt happen by chance. I had support.
