These aren't protests. They're racist riots. And it's time for the government to take them seriously. The PM should be convening COBRA and setting out a real plan to end this horrific violence and bring communities together. Now is a time for real leadership.

This is not a protest. It’s a Far Right Pogrom in Working Class East Belfast against innocent people who work in our schools and hospitals. The animals responsible for this are just as bad as that evil bastard who attacked the man with a Knife last night. Scumbags, all.

Incredibly stupid piece to publish nearly 3 years into this genocide. Israel is not going to stop killing babies if Hamas is disarmed.

JD Vance's statements put all the blame on Harry Nowak's murder on migration as a system and on the Sikh community as a whole and not the actions of individuals. It's appalling.

One for @bbclaurak who asked on air "Why would Israel lie?" A leak has revealed the IDF actually has a programme to train its people in the “fundamentals of psychological warfare, propaganda, deception, legitimacy and public diplomacy." 972mag.com/leaked-idf-propag…

Two things can be true at once. Reid's wording is bad. "The UK isn't the place for you" carries obvious "go home" undertones and he should have worded it differently. But the underlying point is legitimate, and your response is worse. The 5Pillars article explicitly states same-sex relationships are prohibited by divine law, frames LGBTQ identity as a "challenge" Muslim families need to "navigate", and argues moral standards come from revelation, not "changing social norms". That is textbook religious fundamentalism. If a Christian organisation published identical content during Pride Month, nobody would call it racist to push back on it. The critique would be welcomed. It's only when the fundamentalism is Islamic that pushing back becomes "racist", and that double standard protects the fundamentalism, not the community. Now your claim that "Western gay men are some of the most privileged and obnoxiously bigoted people on earth". Forty-nine people were murdered at Pulse nightclub in Orlando in 2016. Gay and trans people are still beaten and killed across the Western world. Same-sex marriage didn't exist anywhere on earth until 2001. In countries governed by the exact theological framework this article promotes, gay people face imprisonment or death. The fight for basic legal existence is within living memory, and in many places it isn't over. You're calling a community that still buries its own to hate crimes "privileged" because they object to a religious framework that explicitly condemns their existence. That is not analysis. That is contempt. Opposing religious fundamentalism isn't racism. It wasn't racism when people opposed Section 28. It wasn't racism when people challenged the Catholic Church's stance on homosexuality. It isn't racism now. You don't get to use anti-racism as a shield for homophobia, regardless of which holy book it comes from. Grow up.
Telling British Muslims to essentially 'go home' if they're not sufficiently understanding or accepting of gay people is just racist. Western gay men are some of the most privileged and obnoxiously bigoted people on earth - how can you expect solidarity if you act like this?

We're going to have to repeat a lot that many Jewish people don't support Israel's genocide. Criticism of the Israeli Government and their war crimes has nothing to do with who is or isn't Jewish. To conflate them like this is both harmful and antisemitic.
Does he want them to wear yellow armbands too?

This Henry Novak issue is crazy because actively both of these children are children of migration, but we’re flying flags of ‘Britain’ because he was white killed by someone brown. This just shows it’s never been about your country, and just about your race.

On 1 June 1985, British police brutally attacked new age travellers heading to Stonehenge in 'The Battle of the Beanfield'. Police smashed the windows of vehicles travellers and others were using, dragged people out through the broken glass, beating them and breaking teeth, glasses and bones. Pregnant women were clubbed, and police set several of the travellers' vehicles on fire. Officers then arrested 537 people, the biggest mass arrest of civilians in many years, and systematically looted, smashed and burned travellers' homes. Seven healthy dogs belonging to travellers were later killed by the RSPCA. The media portrayed the travellers as a marauding army, with the BBC showing ordinary household implements which had been seized, describing them as "weapons gathered up". ITN journalist Kim Sabido recorded what she had seen: "What we've witnessed in the last half hour here has been surely some of the most brutal action by the police forces in Britain for a long time… hitting out wildly by the police… Young women with babies in their arms were hit as well. At one stage one of the cameramen from Fleet Street was arrested for being on this site - we were pushed and shoved to one side, but the worst of it all was that the people in those coaches who were trying to escape from the police were just grabbed, their windows were smashed and they themselves were just beaten, sometimes senselessly, on the floor." His commentary was removed from the video footage when it aired on the news. Participants believed they were targeted by the Conservative government of Margaret Thatcher in order to smash new age traveller culture. One participant told activist newsletter Schnews: "The number of people who were living on buses had been doubling every year for four years. It was anarchy in action, and it was seen to be working by so many people that they wanted to be a part of it too." More information, sources and map: stories.workingclasshistory.…

There's not a single person in Britain who doesn't agree that the death of Henry Nowak was a tragedy, and the way the police handled it was absolutely disgraceful. There's only one political party, however, who want to take that family's pain and politicise it for their own benefit.
