THE FILTON TRIAL: Sentencing Outcome
Draconian sentences were passed by Judge Jeremy Johnson against four Palestine Action activists today at Woolwich Crown Court, each with a terrorist connection, which will mean they will be subject to special terrorist notification requirements for a further 15 years after their release.
For the charge of criminal damage, Charlotte Head and Leona Kamio were given sentences of six years. Fatema Zainab Rajwani and Sam Corner received sentences of five years and eight months. Sam Corner received an additional three-year sentence, to be served consecutively, for GBH.
Because of the terrorist element, they will all have to serve two-thirds of their sentences, and a Parole Board will have to decide whether they have rescinded their views.
Because they have been on remand, the three women have already served 21 months, and Sam has served 25 months.
Judge Johnson recently received a promotion to the High Court.
