Was able to check off a bucket list #fish for Indiana yesterday, the Least Darter (Microperca microperca)! Also came across some healthy Central Mudminnows and Northern Starhead Topminnows. This spot is a goldmine for biodiversity and I will definitely be back!

Checked out some spots on the mainstem St. Joseph River - Lake Erie drainage with nice runs and pools, and a new site on a tributary with a long riffle. Excited to check these out in the coming weeks! #beautifulbait #nature #rivers #streams #neiwatertrails

Happy #fishfriday from a real stunner, the Northern Sunfish (Lepomis peltastes). A northern split from Longear Sunfish, this species stays smaller but still has a big personality! They prefer clear lakes and streams with clean sand, gravel, and organic debris

Happy #fishfriday from the Dusky Darter (Percina sciera)! These are probably one of the most entertaining darters I’ve snorkeled with so far. From a tributary stream to the St Joseph River - Lake Erie, Indiana #nativefish #photography #snorkel #freshwaterscience

Found a small group of Rosyface Shiners (Notropis rubellus) schooling among juvenile River Chubs in a shallow run. Some of the males were still holding onto their bright red faces from the spawning season. #beautifulbait #underwaterphotography #freshwaterscience
