Was able to check off a bucket list #fish for Indiana yesterday, the Least Darter (Microperca microperca)! Also came across some healthy Central Mudminnows and Northern Starhead Topminnows. This spot is a goldmine for biodiversity and I will definitely be back!

Checked out some spots on the mainstem St. Joseph River - Lake Erie drainage with nice runs and pools, and a new site on a tributary with a long riffle. Excited to check these out in the coming weeks!

Happy #fishfriday from a real stunner, the Northern Sunfish (Lepomis peltastes). A northern split from Longear Sunfish, this species stays smaller but still has a big personality! They prefer clear lakes and streams with clean sand, gravel, and organic debris

Found a small group of Rosyface Shiners (Notropis rubellus) schooling among juvenile River Chubs in a shallow run.
Some of the males were still holding onto their bright red faces from the spawning season.

As spawning season came to an end in Cedar Creek, the light shined on this small group of River Chubs (Nocomis micropogon) that were hanging out near two abandoned mounds underneath a fallen tree
