I applaud the emphasis on how effective the vaccines still are in preventing severe disease & death. But re: breakthru infections, the continued use of term "rare" by some govt officials & media is creating a don't-believe-what-you-see credibility problem. Uncommon, OK. Not rare.

Electronic Health Record systems are costing billions of dollars… yet in general, we are barely using this data! Let's use this data in a *safe respectful* way to learn what's working in medicine, what's missing & what might be excessive! #EULAR21

Important piece by @JSchuurMD et al regarding the Anthem policy that doesn't seem to want to go away, denying payment for ED visits. Not only isn't it bad policy, it doesn't work. Honored to have been able to craft the accompanying commentary!
What would happen if @AnthemInc policy of retroactively denying ED visits spread to all U.S. private insurers? New research in @JAMANetworkOpen led by @BrighamWomens @EMHPolicy fellow @achou01 w/ @arjunvenkatesh & O. Baker & @harvardmed student S. Gondhi jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…
