CJP is a Safety Valve.
Like the kind you have in a pressure cooker, which releases excess steam before it blows up and rips the metal apart.
Our political system is in great need of a CJP right now.
That's because India's middle class is on a slow boil of frustrations – and it is desperately looking for somewhere to vent.
Nothing is going right for it – low pay hikes, high prices, falling markets, children's education in a shambles, fires in tony housing estates, heat waves, bad roads, contaminated water.
CJP is that perfect platform to express one's anger with the government, without going so far as to align with the opposition and invite the state's wrath.
It is the safety valve that will help release any excess pressure without changing anything.
And all the while, the middle class will continue to cook in its juices.
