It seems that most of the British biodiversity community has jumped ship to BlueSky this week, so we've created @panspecieslisting.bsky.social. Twitter account will remain for the time being too - we'll see how things shake out.
Several new subgroups added into PSL filters tonight - check out the rankings for macro- and micro-moths, as well as muscid, tachinid, sarcophagid and tephritid flies
First in a series of PSL articles on species that are commonly mis-named. This one's from @graemelyons, and it's on those larger house spiders. panspecieslisting.com/eratig…
At long last, and well overdue, I seem to have found a 'first for Britain'. Say hello to the woodlouse Chaetophiloscia elongata. Found from upper saltmarsh / seawall in north Kent in June. Thanks to the good folk on the isopod/myriopod Facebook group for confirming!
ALT Philoscia muscorum on left, Chaetophiloscia elongata on the right
ALT Chaetophiloscia elongata; note shape of telson (i.e. rear end)
ALT Chaetophiloscia elongata - note pattern of dark/light on the edges of the dorsal plates
V enjoyable weekend @GlobalBirdfair talking all things @PSListing alongside @graemelyons and @bubomike. Managed to fit in 11 lifers. Here are Himacerus boops (swept by GL), Loricula elegantula (beaten by GL) and the case of Coleophora anatipennella on Blackthorn by the campsite
Another new element to the PSL website is increased links with both the @NBNAtlas and @iRecordWildlife. We're keen to see more join up between some of the key wildlife recording systems. More details at panspecieslisting.com/great-…
New feature now out on PSL website. We've subdivided many of the existing taxa groups into smaller sub-groups, to allow for more refined comparisons and target-hunting. So you can look for your hoverfly ranking, top sawfly target or top orchid blocker

Exciting new British sawfly photographed this week by @angst_pp in Suffolk (reproduced here). This is Macrophya teutona; feeds on Cypress Spurge some other Euphorbia spp. Pretty unmistakeable for a sawfly. Probably imported but known from just over the channel so possibly not?
If your missing species still isn't available, it may well be that it's in the list under a different name. The UKSI Sandbox (uksi-sandbox.nhm.ac.uk/) can help you find these synonyms, or else just ask and I'll see if I can help. (Note that no more plant hybrids added yet tho').
UPDATE: If you've noted species that you were unable to add to your PSL, it's worth checking again, as lots of those noted as 'missing' (via direct messages & in list comments) have now been added.

If you have a) Red Mason Bees (Osmia bicornis) in a 'bee hotel', and b) a @PSListing list, you might want to check out this easy tick, new for me today in the garden naturespot.org.uk/species/Ca…
