the single most important part of defense is starting position. If you lose that battle it's much harder to win the possession. Luka puts his head down after he makes the shot and doesn't think about defense until it's too late. This should never happen. Notice how White waits to hit KP until Gafford, the defensive center, slides closer to the ball while also dragging his own defender with him too. The millisecond he calculates both guys are far enough from his teammate that they can't recover in time to take away the 3, he passes it out. You can do this too.

When helping, try to always put one hand up as a shot contester and leave one hand in the passing lane to your man. Offensively, a jump stop would be more effective. Buys you time to add a shot or pass fake, for starters. #yourrecruitingpartner
