Parent power has provided us the opportunity to meet a community of like minded, passionate parents who have built a network of support using our collective power to win campaigns that are important to us! And we have won Campaign of the Year from @SLondonCitizens
@KCLWP@citizensuk@ParentpowerSL fantatic news! The ripple effects still continue as parents organise and take actions together for changes that benefit them, their families, and their communities. People before programmes.
@ParentpowerSL it all started with relational one to one's and listening. The results from listening fired us into action. We built relationships. Voices that felt like they were in the dark, met, and hope was created. Actions followed. Change happened and still is ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ
Awesome @ParentpowerSL meeting this morning! We built power through relational One to one's, session on AI, information on comparative literature and film studies. Thanks @RealistBev for hosting @KCLWP
Powerful meeting this morning. We discussed steps to make a community change and listened to a story of injustice from Hannah and Maxine and what they did to make a positive change! #parentpower@ParentpowerSL
Fantastic morning at @stjohnswaterloo with 100 community leaders from across South London!
Together weโre finding solutions to issues like housing, mental health provision, low pay, migration justice and more ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฝ

Powerful meeting today guest presenter: Enas discussed
Bright young minds debate mate programme opportunities and Parents came together to discuss children who are falling through the gap and the need for soft skills to help them with their presentation skills. #parentpower
Thank you Wandsworth Community Empowerment Network for putting on your 7th Help Through Hardship Crisis Conference: Reducing Health Inequalities. Grassroot listening to communities also requires relationships building so our lived experiences impact real change.
We need to be at the table alongside policy makers, when they draft polices, so our lived experiences are taken into account for 'impactful' change to take place. We have solutions too if decision makers will only listen.
Some of our parents will be attending an event called London Citizens Housing & Homelessness Issues Workshop. Using lived experiences
to shape the strategy for a campaign. Click here for details and to RSVP:ย actionnetwork.org/events/7bbโฆ
Things arenโt working, the helps not coming.
So you get a diagnosis.
Itโs still not working so letโs get an EHCP.
This takes ages (it all takes ages)
Meanwhile people are asking.
We all want answers.
Our child is unhappy.
How do we make it better?
We push again. 1/
@ParentpowerSL@ParentpowerOL @FenlandPP @KnowsleyPP@ArkJohnArcher @CardiffPP_ if parents are not at the negotiation tables we could end up on the menu! There is power in our experiences that can inform decisions. Let's take action together and get around more 'tables'.
All actions are designed to get us around the negotiation table.
Here are the #ParentPower White City folks from @ArkSwiftPrimary negotiating with @LBHF about safer crossings on #SouthAfrica Road.
Thank you to @hammersmithandy for your support.
Improvements are on the way!
Parents, it's half term, so affordable activities that create fun memories is a must! Balance of work, rest, and play is needed for all our mental well-being.
Is the challenge for universities to keep things the way it's always been or to be brave and change, using community organising, to create the 'sweet spot' between new and old power that create authentic changes? #PowerKE
@ParentpowerSL@ParentpowerOL@RealistBev Why are parents not asking universities about their curriculum. What is our understanding? Might be an interesting conversation for our parentpower meetings ๐ค #PowerKE
