After 15 years, I pastor a church with 75 members with an annual budget of $103,000.
Pastors, let no one measure the significance of your ministry based on the amount of people and money in your church.
Generally speaking, it takes 5 years to earn the trust of a congregation and truly become the pastor.
It takes 10 years to make hard changes that moves the culture of a church to a greater place of health.
Pastors, this is not meant to discourage you, but a call to be patient.
A full day of ministry at Iglesia Baptista Ciudad De Dios in San Juan Puerto Rico yesterday. Preached in the morning. Lunch with leaders in the afternoon. Q and A session in the evening with members at the church.
A special church led by faithful pastors. @Pastor_HectorC

Full, fruitful day of ministry. Isabelle and I head to the airport early in the morning to fly home. @practicalsheph
Headed to Puerto Rico for a weekend of ministry. Ministry partnership meetings, strategy conversation with our @pracshephesp director, Hector, and preaching on Sunday.
Got one of my favorite travel buddies with me, my middle daughter Isabelle.
Pray for us! @practicalsheph
When does long-term faithfulness become staying too long?
In this episode, @PastorCroft and @PSTrenchTalk tackle the rarely discussed problem of pastors who overstay their ministry, drawing on Acts 20, 2 Timothy 4, and 1 Corinthians 16.
They unpack warning signs, heart issues, and succession questions to help pastors, elders, and churches discern when it’s time to pass the baton—and why finishing well is about faithfulness, not just longevity.

Pastors, it’s Monday. Don’t resign.
Instead…
1) Drink some good coffee.
2) Lift something heavy.
3) Pray honestly.
4) Be Still and Silent.
5) Sit with a safe friend.
Bivocational pastors at your other job, apply these in your short breaks and lunch hour.
After a full week of talking to pastors in crisis, I have a word of encouragement to every pastor…get a hobby.
Every pastor needs a fun, life-giving activity that has nothing to do with your ministry. This matters. It really does.
And do it often.
Congrats to my good friend @philnewton901. It is one thing to write a book. It is another thing for people to write a book about you and your fruitful ministry.
I was honored to contribute a chapter in Phil’s honor. @Courier1821

I am convinced there is something every pastor must do to have a lasting impact.
“The Ministry of Presence.”
Regardless the country, culture, or context, every pastor needs to know how to sit with hurting people, listen well, and love them exactly wherever they are.
At the airport headed home from Lima, Peru with a tired body, but a full heart. Amazing place. Wonderful people. Rich history. Faithful pastors doing good work in some hard places. A fruitful ministry weekend.
And the food…is some of the best food I have ever had in my life.
Day 2 pastor’s event on caring for the pastor’s soul went really well! Group of faithful, eager pastors doing some good work in some hard places.
Hector and I preach tomorrow as our final assignment in Peru. Thanks for praying. @practicalsheph@pracshephesp
Day one was a very fruitful day here in Lima Peru. Some faithful pastors are here doing incredible work.
The Second event starts this afternoon on the pastor caring for his own soul so he has something to pour out for others.
Thanks for praying.
Made it to Peru at 3:00 am this morning because of flight delays. But we are getting settled here.
Enjoying some meaningful fellowship with the host pastor here who’s doing some incredible work. We’ve already tried cow’s heart here and it was amazing.
The event start tonight.
Pastors, please stop evaluating the significance of your ministry on numbers of people and how much money your church has.
Look for the spiritual fruit. Thank God for it. Believe you are making a kingdom impact in where you are and what you are doing.
And keep pressing on…
At the airport heading to Lima, Peru for a full weekend of ministry with @endosnetwork. Pastor events on Friday and Saturday and preaching Sunday.
Hector and I would appreciate your prayers.
Sean speaking today at our @practicalsheph pastor’s fellowship about his church revitalization experience and what he learned from the church not turning around like he had hoped.
