Acting on forward and backward linkages established during the investigation of a major cross-border drug smuggling case, Amritsar Commissionerate Police arrests two more accused and recovers an additional 5.041 Kg of Heroin in two separate operations. Earlier, six accused, including three juveniles, were arrested with 30.045 Kg of Heroin. Pursuing further leads during the investigation, police teams apprehended another accused and recovered 2.006 Kg Heroin, exposing deeper links within the smuggling network. Investigation reveals that the accused were linked to a #Dubai-based smuggler who was facilitating the supply of heroin consignments from across the border. In a separate operation, police recovered 3.035 Kg Heroin from the possession of another accused, leading to further insights into the network's operations and linkages. An FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act at PS Chheharta, #Amritsar. Punjab Police launches the next phase of the #YudhNashianVirudh campaign with a focused 3-day statewide Special Campaign against illegal hawala operators who facilitate the movement of drug money and sustain narcotics networks. In YNV so far , 73 hawala operators have been arrested and ₹10 crore hawala money has been recovered. Assets worth over ₹830 crore have been frozen under Section 68F of the NDPS Act since 2022. Since March 1, 2025 alone, more than ₹20 crore in drug proceeds has been recovered, while 1,727 property-freezing proposals have been confirmed by the Competent Authority. @PunjabPoliceInd adopts a zero-tolerance approach against drugs and remains firmly committed to breaking the financial backbone of drug trafficking.Through sustained legal action against drug traffickers, hawala operators, drug proceeds, and illegally acquired assets, we continue our efforts to dismantle the financial networks of organized drug trade and work towards a Drug-Free Punjab.
