A few of its components, being actually scientific, bear truth and have utility, but its fundamental claims are just abductive story telling. I no longer find that story necessary and thus not compelling.

This kind of thing acts as the seed to so many of our problems. Justifying sin, by pretending it's actually a good thing. Once you accept that it's OK to lie for some reason, that reason becomes a list. That grows without any discernable boundary.
