This Christmas, I’m asking for your help for someone very special to me — and to many children who’ve been through more than anyone should. 💙💛 While many of us are celebrating with warmth, love, and happy traditions, there are kids in Ukraine whose holidays are filled with pain. They’ve lost parents, homes, and a sense of safety because of the war. That’s why my amazing friend and her team at Gen Ukrainian are working so hard to help. They run a program that offers psychological support for kids who’ve lost one or both parents in the war. In the past 2.5 years, they’ve already helped over 500 children who’ve faced unthinkable hardships — and this Christmas, they want to help 100 more. I’ve been thinking all day about the main news of today. I constantly think not only about my country but also about this world. What will it be like in the future? Will we overcome all the evil and tackle such crucial issues as ecology, the fight against hunger, and poverty? I genuinely hope we will. This is what I wish for all of us. We are fighting the Russian army, which Belarus and Iran are supporting, and now North Korea — just a typical Wednesday for Ukrainians. Once again, we stand on the brink of winter, on the verge of new, horrific missile attacks. Some say challenges are given to those who can handle them. We can, and we are unafraid. But is the world not afraid to witness the creation of such a powerful military alliance? When history books will write, “It should have been stopped at the beginning, but…” And what follows the “but” is precisely what we are witnessing right now. Only we see it in reality. I look sad in this photo because my great friend, and a friend of all Ukraine, the Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine, Mr. Matsuda Kuninori, is completing his diplomatic mission here. This means that we won’t see each other again anytime soon. 😞 I would like all of you to get to know him because he is an extraordinary person with a huge heart. At our first meeting, I barked about how many things we needed, and a few weeks later, as if by magic, various equipment started arriving. Thank you, people of Japan, for sending us such an Ambassador. I will never forget you ❤️
