I think he is more like the cherry picker that permeates modern Christianity. Selectively using it to justify his points of view.
The views expressed by him are at times at odds with the teachings of Christ.
Now it seems like charlatans hide behind the cloak of Christianity.
I realize you just became a Catholic, like, a minute ago but the "Deus Vult" is NOT a "Christian motto." It is a throwback to the rally call in 1096 and Urban II's speech that led to the First Crusade (I'm a medieval history nerd, you are not). It's never been widely used... 1/
