Daycare closed for COVID. My out of office message: I will be unable to attend meetings/answer emails as the US has systematically failed to protect young children and working parents. I will respond when my child is vaccine eligible, which may not be until 2023. #WomenInMedicine

Every single pediatrician I know was first in line to immunize their children against #COVID19 That should tell you something.

I get the disturbing sense many unvaccinated people are delighting in the fact many fully vaccinated people are now getting sick with Covid. They still don’t get why vaccines matter, and I’m afraid many will take that ignorance to the grave.

Well this is less than ideal. #GetVaccinatedNow
I've worked on infectious disease outbreaks for 30 years. I've NEVER seen anything like the speed of Omicron. It's as infectious as measles spreading in a non-immune population, with a much shorter incubation time therefore much faster doubling time. Hope it's a lot less severe.
This. Did you test a higher dose?? Is it better than nothing??
Incredibly disappointing news as omicron is sweeping through the US and our young, unvaccinated kids are totally exposed. We need to know from Pfizer: -Did higher doses for 2-4 year olds get tested? -What is protective effect after 2 doses (some might be better than none)?
A year ago I was so excited to have my first COVID vaccine. Now finding out that the trial failed and I can’t vaccinate my babies for another 4-6 months. This is terrifying. I just want to protect them. 😒

The AAP joins leading frontline physician groups opposing the TX state law banning abortions, medical counseling & support related to abortion after six weeks of pregnancy. Patients & their physicians should be the ones to make medical decisions together. ow.ly/SpZR50G3YAA

My pitch today for parents refusing #COVIDVaccine: Your child needs you around. Too many kids have lost a parent to COVID19. The most important thing that you can do to be sure that you are around for your child is to #GetVaccinated. If not for you, then for your child.

FYI pediatricians want their own kids to get the vaccine so bad we’ve been calling around trying to get our kids in clinical trials. I am one of those parents. This is how serious we are.

Austin ISD will inform parents of a positive case. Austin ISD will conduct contact tracing. Families should keep sick children at home.
It’s a beautiful day when your healthy 16 day old’s SARS-CoV-2 spike antibodies are positive. πŸ˜€ 1st Pfizer at 7 weeks pregnant. πŸ™ŒπŸ» #boom #COVID19 #vaccineswork #getvaccinated #ilovescience

As women physicians in 2020, we still struggle to be taken seriously compared to our male counterparts, as we battle stereotypes like THIS EXACT ONE. We expect the brands we support to reflect the badasses we are. @wearfigs - women physicians are disappointed in you. Do better.
