I think he's largely correct, as long as you are talking about the type of liberal Christian that is still sincere and trying to reconcile Christianity and progressivism.
But a lot of Left Christians just wear Christianity as a skin suit and these are worse than Mormons.

Anyone who hates magic in fantasy has a shriveled soul. One that cannot understand whimsy and wonder.
Magic is not there to 'solve problems' within the plot. It's there to be numinous. To show us the material world is only a walled village and beyond it lie wonders and terrors.

I am officially dubbing this the "Ewok Test". There is a clear and present correlation between hating ewoks and being evil (there’s even a great movie about this!)
Ewoks represent simple goodness triumphing against evil despite the odds. The wicked recoil at the mere mention of ewoks. I encourage you to use this test wisely
