Alert readers will have noticed we've been a bit short on articles lately. This is because, frankly, there's very little left to say about Scottish politics, which is stuck in a Groundhog Decade of stagnant, incompetent tedium that looks set to last for the foreseeable future no matter the result of next year's Holyrood election.
(Our cartoonist is similarly devoid of inspiration.)
They may also have noticed some recent (accidental) email notifications about some old posts about videogames that I imported into the blog as a backup because the new hosts of my personal site Wings Over Sealand have made a giant arse of it and rendered it inaccessible.
And that made me mull something. Rather than spend thousands of pounds a year hosting a site that only has one post a week on it, I'm considering formally broadening Wings out into a more personal site that would still have Scottish politics articles, but also a much bigger variety of stuff interesting to me, like videogames and music and ice lollies and pictures of swans and whatnot.
There wouldn't be any FEWER Scottish politics posts - they'd still be the priority, any time there was anything worth saying - but they'd be interspersed with other stuff you might not care about.
(Although frankly most commenters just seem to want to yell at each other about Gaza, and I guess to that end it doesn't much matter what the articles are about.)
The name wouldn't change, but the site would be more like Wings Over Stuey's General Thoughts About Stuff. I've imported all the Sealand stuff under a different username and would use that for non-politics posts, so you could always change your bookmark from the main front page to the "Rev. Stuart Campbell" author category and then you'd only see politics pieces.
Anyway, I'm just pondering it, so feel free to let me know what you think. TBH I think it'd still be vastly more interesting than wanking on about poll subsamples for an election four years away that doesn't matter anyway, but hey, not everyone's the same as me.
