Yuval Harari just published a piece on Zionism in the @washingtonpost. He argues:
"Nothing in this Zionist idea implies that Jews are superior to others, whether they are Greeks or Poles — or Palestinians." @harari_yuval
A short🧵.
This is a turning point in UK higher education. A financially viable department cut in order to pay for the expansion of subjects that get more high-fees international students. If this is allowed to happen, many many unis will follow. Please speak out!
Sadly, @UniKent has announced plans to axe a number of smaller departments, including philosophy. We perform well on all measures, including student recruitment. But smaller subjects have less clout and are easiest to cut. Help us shout out our value to the uni! They need to hear
I've a new paper on how worlds emerge in Everettian quantum mechanics. I argue that decoherence is the mechanism that allows worlds to evolve independently from one another, so worlds emerge from underlying reality just as bouncy balls and gases emerge!

I wrote about how feeling compassion for Palestinians doesn't lessen our compassion for Israelis, and looking for hope in the Jewish-Arab partnerships offering a vision of an alternative, brighter, future.

Second talk of the day, the first ever postdoc of the project (and now @kingsphilosophy lecturer) Alex Franklin presenting “Against Bridge Laws: Reduction in the Structuralist Mode” @PhilPhysAlex
The final talk from our workshop on the metaphysics of quantum theory from Alex Franklin @PhilPhysAlex - on the worlds of many-worlds quantum mechanics as emergent structure youtu.be/UeEmwZuNUNY
BBLOC Philosophy of Physics Seminar: Dr Sam Fletcher (Minnesota) – ‘The Representation and Determinable Structure of Quantum Properties’ Thursday 1st December 2022, 5pm, KCL Bush House (SE) 1.01 kingsphilosophy.com/2022/11/…
Alex Franklin @PhilPhysAlex wraps up today's workshop with a talk on how quantum worlds emerge from the quantum state, pushing back against objections to Everettian quantum theory which turn on its appeal to decoherence to secure determinate macroscopic outcomes
Post-lunch talk with @PhilPhysAlex of @MetaScienceEU convincing us that chances (the universe does not play 🎲) are not only reserved for fundamental probabilities in physics.
Here's another job! This time a 1 year job in logic/Phil science/ Phil maths. I'm the contact for this one so do get in touch if you have questions!jobs.kcl.ac.uk/gb/en/job/043…
