And it’s a wrap! #MetaScience is now officially over and in these years we have achieved so much. Together with all the outputs, the main result is to have formed a real team, sharing the passion for philosophy across the world. 🌎 Thanks everyone! @ERC_Research@BristolUni (1/3)
Fascinated by the @Nature article “Assembly theory explains and quantifies selection and evolution”, the following debate on @ChemistryWorld, and discussion with @Assembling_Life, I wrote this letter for CW on the philosophy of Assembly theory, now out: chemistryworld.com/opinion/l…
Just made it to Belgium for the last research visit of 2023! Thanks to the #CEFISES for funding my visit and looking forward to:
- working on multiple realisability with Pieter Thyssen 🔍
-my talk on reductionism in biochemistry on Friday (joint work with @LoreLorenzetti) 🧬
Exactly one year since I submitted my PhD thesis - a year full of so many adventures I could have never imagined! And more exciting projects on the philosophy of biochemistry and metaphysics of science in progress and forthcoming 💫
I submitted my PhD thesis while looking at the sunset colouring Athens with gold. I feel a bit like a biochemical kind, as also for me none of this would have been possible without the most wonderful context of people and opportunities around me. Especially, @MetaScienceEU (1/2)
We are currently seeking a new philosophy of science post doc to work with us on the @Assembling_Life project in Oslo. Please share with potential candidates! jobbnorge.no/en/available-jo…
The @Assembling_Life project is up and running! Excited to dive into philosophy of self-assembly and self-organization in living systems. Follow us here for updates on project research and events, and have a look at our website (under development): hf.uio.no/ifikk/english/rese…
Fresh content on our YouTube channel! Here is @ttahko wrapping up the MetaScience project's achievements at our final conference in June 2023: youtu.be/uKBWGMfceEQ

#WhatsNext6 ~ Tuomas will continue his role as the Faculty Research Director for Arts at @BristolUni and @PhilATBristol for now, but you probably can’t keep him from leading big research projects for long (and what an amazing job he has done with MetaScience)! @ttahko
#WhatsNext5 ~ @seifert_vanessa is excited for her 1st book to come out @CambUP_PHILNYUK. She just started working on her @MSCActions project 'Chemical Reactions as Causes & Laws’ & will continue her research in PhilChem also through her articles @ChemistryWorld & @Jargonium5
If you want to know more about Vanessa’s research and philosophy you can check out her website: vanessa-seifert.com
And her multiple articles for @Jargonium5 and @ChemistryWorld
#WhatsNext4 ~ Francesca will be a Teaching Fellow at the @unibirmingham teaching MA courses in Metaphysics, Philosophy of Language and Epistemology. She will continue her research on biochemical kinds and functions through papers and articles for @Jargonium and @ChemistryWorld
#WhatsNext3 ~ After a brief stint with the Human Abilities project in Berlin, @tobytfriend will become a @MSCActions Fellow at Freie Universität Berlin. In August 2024 he will join the @SUNY at Buffalo philosophy department as an Assistant Professor.
#WhatsNext2 ~ @Dr_Will_Morgan is leaving academia (but not Philosophy) to teach Philosophy and Religious Studies at a secondary school in Cambridge. He will continue to undertake research in Metaphysics and the Philosophy of Biology when he has time!
