Last night, 3 @PhillyPolice officers were shot while answering a call for service. By the grace of God, all 3 are expected to recover. This could have ended very differently. Please keep these officers, their families, and all affected in your prayers. 6abc.com/post/3-philadelphia…

PPD is closely monitoring reports regarding the active shooter incident at the Islamic Center of San Diego. While there is currently no known threat to Philadelphia, out of an abundance of caution, the PPD is increasing patrols around mosques and other sensitive locations.

I was honored to send these runners off from Philadelphia - and even more honored to welcome them as they arrived in Washington, D.C. for the @NLEOMF! Their journey honored every fallen officer and the families who carry their memory each day. #LEMR

Some moments remind you exactly why we do this work. Last month, I had the honor of swearing in Enzo as an honorary member of PPD SWAT - a brave young man whose strength inspires all of us! Thank you to @MakeAWish for helping make this day possible. youtu.be/qY6FA-Djl_8?si=a1Ni…

Nothing better than seeing our officers and young people sharing the court at @TempleUniv for the 4th Annual Youth Violence Prevention Basketball Event. This is prevention and intervention in action - showing up, connecting, and building something stronger together!

Philadelphia’s young people deserve a Summer filled with safe, structured, and enriching experiences. We are making significant investments to ensure families have access to high-quality programs that promote learning, recreation, and career development through our City’s “It’s A Summer Thing” initiative. No matter what your child’s interests are—sports, academics, science, technology, or job training—there is a place for them in our summer programs! We look forward to a Summer full of fun, learning, and opportunity for all our young people. Our first priority remains safety for our crews and our community, and dignity for the victims. Demolition at the garage collapse site will begin early Saturday morning as our teams continue careful, deliberate work and begin the recovery for the workers still inside. As work begins, neighbors in the surrounding blocks may see dust. Masks are not required, but those with sensitivities may consider an N95. We will gather Saturday at 10 a.m. at Vare Recreation Center to share updates and support one another. Please continue to keep the affected families in your prayers.
