THE NORMIE CONVERGENCE THEORY: By now, many of you are familiar with this greentext about how the internet has allowed people to become weirder, but I contend that the opposite is also true— that the internet has smoothed over the possibility of uniqueness in the normie. 1/11

The Catholic Church as an organization is in par with isis or the Taliban. They’re terrorists who need to be imprisoned. If you’re stupid enough to let your religious beliefs boss you around, then you’re also part of the problem. March on the Vatican with the army.
The drama of migration must serve as an appeal to the conscience of the nations of origin of the migrants, which must establish conditions for peace, justice and development. It is also an appeal to the conscience of the transit nations, which are called to protect the vulnerable and not leave them in the hands of criminal networks. It is likewise an appeal to the conscience of Europe, which cannot claim to uphold human dignity while growing accustomed to the Mediterranean and the Atlantic becoming unmarked graves, as well as that of the international community, which is called to effective and persevering cooperation. #ApostolicJourney vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

This is how my dad grew up in the 50s in Miami, snook fishing at dawn in the mangroves with his friends, skipping school to go to the beach The pain in his eyes when we visit Florida today is heartbreaking old Florida has been wiped out more than any other part of the US probably

Yeah, and it’s already playable on the Nintendo Switch right now. One of the greatest games of all time. You can just go play it on the console you already have. Isn’t that great? There is no need to dig up its corpse and rape it with a new horrific “art style”
- 27 year old game - Widely considered one of the greatest games ever made - Originally released on one of the most technically dated consoles ever - From a company that almost never remakes games "sToP rEmAkInG gAmEs" Some of you just don't like video games.

In hindsight, “separate but equal” was incredibly generous.

This is a general rule with video games that you can pretty consistently find. A game series/gameplay style typically only has 1-2 sequels in it before you’ve pushed it to its fullest potential and it becomes stale. Proof of concept -> revision -> 2nd revision.

To be honest, so many series are this way. I begin to wonder if, generally, a trilogy is the longest a story world can remain coherent and true to purpose? There are exceptions, and many long running series that are good. But more often than not I find one-offs or trilogies win.

Nintendo flagships have been able to run for so long because they don’t typically revisit a franchise unless they have a unique gameplay innovation that they can focus on. They’re not really doing “sequels” as such.

The short-sleeve button down is wholly suboptimal and if you made me supreme leader I would strike this article of clothing down -- let a million polos bloom; let a million rolled-up sleeves contend.

Another side question , Are there still regional subculture differences in USA to this extent anywhere? Hasn’t social media homogenized things lately …. Regarding these photos not sure if these are for primarily social media consumption and how that changes things
A very idyllic image of Southern and SEC dating life. Counterpoint: my understanding is F Roger Devlin came out of southern debutante/cotillion culture and his essays are inspired by the breakdown of that social world some time ago ; is that so?

Debutante and cotillion culture is also not exactly the same as this, there is definitely overlap but this is a much larger circle than that. Most couples of this type are not debutante levels of wealth or class

The SEC is a rare instance of an insulated and self sufficient dating market, that outsiders can neither infiltrate nor fully understand. It is the last remaining functional dating subculture in USA, with healthy incentives for relationship formation still reasonably intact. 1/8

I hear money as explanation…would be bad enough but I think it’s worse. Normally eg tech billionaires don’t get w*men like this Imo this isn’t good; suspect these men are in some kind of humiliating situation (gril bring w you because she fears men or sees you as pet is bad)

SEC Southerners are often plenty smart, but the culture is generally anti-intellectual, so they are extremely underrepresented online. And no, you can’t just move to the South to try for the dating perks. It is not something one can or would fake their way into. 7/8

Make no mistake though, Jack is a stand-up guy, has a pretty wife and a large family, plays golf on weekends, watches college football, and votes Trump. Cynicism about these photos is misplaced. You may not like it, but this is just what peak male performance looks like. 8/8
