If Republicans cared about doing the right thing, they could pass a CR via a reconciliation bill, tied to the last approved budget. This type of bill can't be filibustered and, therefore, can be passed by a simple majority vote. This would give legislators time to negotiate a long-term deal without hurting Americans.
They don't want you to know this.

Republicans just brought the House into session for a total of 2 minutes.
Democrats tried to bring up legislation to keep government open, keep children on their insurance, and keep health care costs from doubling.
