In the early hours of this morning, I directed our Armed Forces to intercept a shadow fleet oil tanker attempting to pass through the English Channel. This successful operation delivers yet another blow to Russia and reminds those fueling Putin's war in Ukraine that we will not let them hide. I want to thank those involved, including our Armed Forces and law enforcement officers who keep this country safe 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

On each occasion that I have met Keir going back to being a candidate in 2019 he has been warm, polite, smiled a lot, listened to me and at times been witty. He has a big serious job and I therefore wouldn’t have necessarily expected this to be the case on every encounter but that has been the position and I do not think it’s fair to attack his personality like this as it’s not my experience as a new MP. He recently stayed at a hotel in my constituency and the staff were so excited he sat up with them for a while and chatted despite the fact he was exhausted having flown in from overseas and getting up very early for government business. I agree, Deborah. It's almost as if the MSM/ring-wing press want us to be miserable and angry. And they certainly don't want us to recognise when we're onto a good thing.

Some good news you might have missed this week: Net migration at a 13-year low. UK the fastest-growing G7 economy. NHS waiting lists down half a million. Borrowing at a three-year low. Fuel duty cut extended. Inflation back to 2.8%. The country is moving in the right direction.

None of this happened by accident. Strong growth figures show that this government has the right economic plan. And now, the IMF has upgraded the UK’s growth forecast. This growth is driven by an activist, interventionist government that believes in backing British business.
